Relationship Between Reflection of Mental States and Indicators of Psychological Well-being in College Students

Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: This study examines the relationship between the reflection of mental states and various aspects of psychological well-being in college students within secondary vocational education. Methods: 398 students (15–24 years) from Cheboksary Medical College participated. Standardized psychodiagnostic methods assessed reflexivity (Karpov, Ponomareva), anxiety (Spielberger), mental states (Eysenck), and psychological well-being (K. Riff). Conclusions: Reflection of mental states showed statistically significant, though ambiguous, relationships with student mental life. Positive correlations emerged between reflection and anxiety, rigidity, meaningfulness of life, and self-perception as an open system. A negative correlation was found with aggressiveness. However, no significant correlations appeared between reflection and most K. Riff psychological well-being indicators, or overall well-being. These results underscore reflection's complex nature, indicating a need to develop its adaptive forms for student psychological health in the educational process.
