Abstract: Mycelium composites offer a sustainable alternative to traditional building materials. Combining mycelium with hemp wood, a strong, lightweight and fire resistant material can be produced. This composite material is environmentally friendly, utilizing agricultural waste and reducing the carbon footprint. The versatility of mycelium-based composites allows for a wide range of applications, from small objects to construction materials. Biopex has developed a biocomposite pipe distribution panel using mycelium and hemp wood in Turkey that has successfully passed all necessary tests, confirming its quality and potential for wider use. This article describes Biopex composite materials and other examples of composite materials produced around the world.
