Abstract: The socio-economic relationship between development process and education system in a country is quite evident. The education system has a fundamental importance in determining the quality of a country's human resources and in the sustainability of economic, social and technological progress. 'Vocational education' within the education system has a different importance and role in terms of training qualified manpower and providing optimal benefits. The need for qualified manpower, especially in line with the developments in the post-industrialization period, similar to the experiences of industrialized countries in this period, the Ottoman Empire felt the need to make significant changes in the field of vocational education in order to increase the competence of the workforce and support industrial transformation. Vocational education opportunities were not limited to men but were also made available for women in the Tanzimat period. Vocational training schools for women opened in this period not only contributed to the development of the country by training a qualified labor force, but also made it possible for women to play a more active role in other areas of society as well as working life through vocational and cultural training. These developments, which took place gradually from Tanzimat to Republic of Türkiye, are of great importance in laying the foundations of the mentality about the evolution of women in working life and the opportunities offered to women by vocational education.
