Effect of Salicylic Acid Concentrations on the Growth, Yield, and Quality of Corn genotypes (Zea mays L.)

Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of different concentrations of salicylic acid (100, 200mg/L) on four corn genotype (Toro, Rayal 630, 777, and 666) during the autumn 2024 season at Tikrit University, Iraq. Using a randomized block design, “The results showed notable differences growth, yield and quality”. Show variety 777 in weight of 300 grain, number of laves, plant height, weight of 300 grains, and starch content, while Toro had the highest leaf area, stem diameter, grain count per ear, and ear weight. The Rayal 630 genotype recorded the highest oil and protein percentages. The results indicated significant differences when spraying salicylic acid, as the 200 mg/L concentration showed notable superiority in leaft area, leaft count, plant height, leaf area, grain count per ear, numbre of rows per ear, weight of 300 cereals, stem diameter, oil, starch, and protein percentages. Interaction effects between salicylic acid and corn genotype influenced growth characteristics, with the 777 and Toro genotypes showing the most notable improvements.
