Numerical Modeling of Radiosonde-Assisted Compact Ranges for Electromagnetic Propagation under Atmospheric Variability

Year: 2025
Type: preprint
Abstract: The framework for high-fidelity electromagnetic (EM) field characterisation in nearand far-field regions under dynamic meteorological conditions is presented in this research using a hybrid radiosonde-integrated compact range. By combining a controlled compact range measurement setup with a real-time atmospheric profile using a radiosonde, the system records the effects of temperature, humidity, and pressure changes on the propagation of electromagnetic waves. The methodology allows for an accurate assessment of signal attenuation, propagation dependability, and refractive index changes in weatherimpacted situations. In addition to experimental validation utilizing near-real-time radiosonde data, numerical modeling is conducted using atmosphericdependent Maxwell-based formulations. This method offers enhanced reliability for radar systems, wireless communication links, and atmospheric sensors functioning in fluctuating weather conditions by supporting the precise evaluation of electromagnetic channel behavior in terrestrial and atmospheric applications. The framework sets a standard for designing and testing weather-aware electromagnetic systems.
