Abstract: The exorbitant cost of silicon photovoltaics has led to a growing interest in alternate semiconductor materials for light gathering. Single-walled carbon nanotubes possess unique electrical and optical characteristics, making them a viable material for photovoltaic applications. Exploring ways to utilize these capabilities in photovoltaic devices is crucial. Carbon nanotubes have undergone extensive research in organic photovoltaics and photoelectrochemical cells. However, they may also be combined with a well-known semiconductor, such as Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS). Nanotube-silicon heterojunction solar cells have shown up to 33 % power conversion efficiency, potentially due to the photoactivity of carbon nanotubes.
