Abstract: In this our study, the tenure process of Cemal Arık, who served as the mayor of İnegöl Municipality between 1989-1994, his services and the activities carried out in general terms related to the period in question were discussed. The aim of our study is to reveal the way in which the activities of Cemal Arık during his service period were handled in the local press. Regarding the subject, Yıldırım and Bizim İnegöl newspapers, which continued their publications in İnegöl on the relevant dates and had an important place in the local press, were scanned. In order to support the issues in the press with official data, İnegöl Municipality Council Minutes were scanned and included in the study. The collected data were classified and analyzed. After the analysis, it was observed that the Mayor actively used the press during his tenure, held a press conference once every 15 days and informed about the works to be carried out and carried out, followed the agenda through the press, as well as sending articles to the newspapers and choosing to interact with the people of the district by conveying the statements that the press usually included on the first page. In the study, municipal services are classified as activities and other activities within the scope of municipal services. In order to meet the needs of the people as municipal activities, the openings of parks, kindergartens, soup kitchens, health centers, the works carried out to solve the problems experienced by the city regarding traffic, the measures taken to prevent air and environmental pollution and the studies carried out for the establishment of a treatment plant were discussed. As other services, tourism, sports, culture and art and various activities and openings held on the anniversaries of the liberation of İnegöl, which has an important place for İnegöl, from enemy occupation were discussed. In addition to the positive reactions of the public to the activities carried out, there were service requests in cases where they found it insufficient. From time to time, criticisms were directed by the people and opposition parties, and it was seen that Cemal Arık responded to the criticisms and demands. In our study, it is aimed to provide information about the details and the opportunity to observe how the services and activities carried out are evaluated by the public by considering the period of Cemal Arık from the perspective of the press.
