Abstract: The study of the Bible offers important contributions to the development of an ecological ethic. To this end, it is necessary to create an ecological hermeneutic to reveal the latent ecological meaning of certain texts, while safeguarding their salvific character. From this perspective, this article re-reads Mt 6 through the application of ‘ecological doctrinal codes’, elaborated to bring out its ecological dimension. The result is a series of aptitudes that encourage personal change and the adoption of a more ecological lifestyle, focused on the care of all creation and, especially, of the most vulnerable beings.
