Psychometric properties of the Vitiligo Noticeability Scale using data from a phase II randomized study of upadacitinib in adults with nonsegmental vitiligo

Abstract: The Vitiligo Noticeability Scale (VNS) is a patient-reported outcome that assesses treatment success. It was originally validated by measuring the cosmetic acceptability of a single target patch before and after treatment. We further investigated the psychometric properties of the VNS and determined if it could be used as a global measure of vitiligo noticeability by using in-trial data from a phase II randomized trial (NCT04927975) assessing upadacitinib, an oral selective Janus kinase inhibitor, in patients with nonsegmental vitiligo. We found the VNS to be a valid and reliable global measure that can differentiate between clinically distinct groups and is sensitive to change.
