Role and mechanistic study of long non‑coding RNA maternally expressed gene 3 in gastric cancer (Review)
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Long non-coding (lnc)RNAs are notable participants in gene regulation, and maternally expressed gene 3 (MEG3) has been implicated in the development and progression of several types of cancer, underscoring its potential as a key player in oncogenesis. The present review aimed to explore the functional role of MEG3 in gastric cancer (GC) and elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms, as well as to summarize the expression changes of MEG3 in GC, its influence on tumor cell biological behaviors and the potential signaling pathways involved. Ultimately, the present synthesis of current knowledge seeks to provide novel insights for the diagnosis and treatment of GC, highlighting MEG3 as a promising target for future therapeutic strategies.
