Enhancing Agricultural Finance through Human Resource Management in Banking: A Case Study

Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Banking plays a crucial role in supporting the agricultural sector, especially in regions like Southeast Sulawesi, which relies on agriculture as a key economic pillar. This study evaluates the role of banking institutions in supporting agriculture through the application of innovative human resource management (HRM) practices, such as transglobal leadership, organizational culture, and employee trust and commitment. These practices aim to enhance the banking sector’s performance in providing financing services, such as the People's Business Credit (KUR), which increases productivity and sustainability in agriculture. Using a descriptive and quantitative approach, data was collected from 135 bank employees in Southeast Sulawesi. The findings show that while KUR has successfully improved productivity, expanding access to remote areas remains a significant challenge. Furthermore, transglobal leadership and an inclusive organizational culture have a significant impact on employee performance, which in turn strengthens the effectiveness of banking support for agriculture. Employee trust also enhances the relationship between leadership, organizational culture, and performance commitment. This study suggests that to strengthen banking’s contribution to the agricultural sector, HRM practices that are inclusive and supportive should be reinforced, along with expanding credit services to farmers in remote areas. Keywords: Banking, Agricultural sector, human resource management, transglobal leadership, employee performance.
