Tribological Behaviour of Aluminium LM6 Reinforced with Hematite MMCs
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The ongoing research evaluated the impact of applied load, sliding velocity, and reinforcement on the tribological behaviour of LM6 aluminium strengthened with hematite MMCs. The liquid metallurgical approach has been used to produce the composites. In steps of three weight per cent, the percentage weight of hematite particles considering series from 0wt% to 12wt%. The tribological properties of unheated and heat-treated alloys were examined using a pin-on-disc test machine. The relationship between the wear rate and applied load and sliding velocity was investigated. Using a scanning electron microscope, the wear surface morphology and pin wear behaviour were examined. Major Findings: Key influencing factors like the effect of applied load, effect of sliding distance, effect of reinforcement on wear characteristics and SEM analysis of worn-out surfaces.
