Abstract: The paper deals with the problem of using eco-technologies to protect water bodies from the negative impact of surface runoff on the example of Kharkiv. The peculiarities of the formation of surface runoff from the territory of Kharkiv are determined. Based on generalized data on the composition of surface runoff from the city, the approximate annual amount of the main pollutants in the composition of surface runoff from the city territory is evaluated. For the effective implementation of eco-technologies to protect water bodies from the negative impact of polluted surface runoff, it is advisable to determine the ways of its flow directly to water bodies. In the process of the research, a geoinformation analysis of the hydrological network of Kharkiv and the catchment areas of the city's rivers was carried out. The largest water bodies of the city, their main characteristics and significance in urban landscapes are considered. It has been determined that most city districts have potential areas for the use of eco- technologies to prevent the ingress of pollutants with surface runoff into water bodies. For the effective integration of the constructed wetland into urbanized landscapes, it is necessary to take into account the relief, socio-economic features of each selected site, building density, and features of local flora and fauna. Based on the research, practical recommendations have been developed on the possibilities of using eco-technologies to protect water bodies from surface runoff from the territory of Kharkiv, in consideration of the socio-economic and geographical features of the city's administrative districts. It has been determined that the set of advantages of eco-technologies is multifaceted. It is determined that the combination of the advantages of eco-technologies and the long-term experience of their development and creation in Ukraine and the world gives grounds for considering the possibilities of their application for the protection of water bodies from the negative impact of surface runoff.
