The Invisible Governance Power of the Platform Capitalism in the Countryside -Under the Background of Rural Economic Digitalisation

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Under the dual background of China’s economic digitalisation and the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, rural areas have developed rapidly; however, platform capitalism is gradually eroding the power of the village committee and becoming an invisible ruler of the village. Taking the establishment of the Shandong Data Cooperative as an example, this article discusses the composition of platform capitalism’s invisible governance power in rural areas and measures for farmers to free themselves from this new form of oppression. At the same time, by examining disputes between farmers and platform capital in recent years, this article analyzes the operational mechanism of such invisible governance power. It is found that platform capitalism acquires invisible governance power through technical necessity and consolidates such power through capital’s structural violence.
