Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study examines the future and evolution of Russia's audit and consulting sector, focusing on the shifting roles of global firms. It aims to understand why Big Four companies might reintegrate into the Russian market, using new institutional theory and a resource-based approach. The model suggests that the quality of a client portfolio, assessed by financial stability and long-term relationships, can predict the likelihood of Big Four re-integration. Statistical analysis of energy sector companies' reporting data supports this model with significant results. The Big4's return is driven by a consistent demand for industry leadership, reinforcing brand exclusivity and a reputation as dependable, long-term partners. PwC leads in client portfolio quality among the Big4, demonstrating a strong motivation for reintegration. This study offers originality through statistical analysis of primary data, providing practical insights for authorities to refine institutional environments, enhance corporate strategies, and identify factors motivating Russian companies' internationalization in BRICS markets.
