Abstract: Environmental sustainability has become a pressing global concern, necessitating the promotion of green entrepreneurship among the younger generation. We examine how and when entrepreneurship education predicts green entrepreneurial intentions among Ghanaian university students, focusing on entrepreneurial self-efficacy and the moderating roles of gender and perceived financial security. Using a survey methodology, we collected questionnaire responses from 747 students across multiple universities. We relied on convenience sampling technique. Through PLS-SEM, our findings demonstrate that entrepreneurship education significantly enhances entrepreneurial self-efficacy and green entrepreneurial intentions, with entrepreneurial self-efficacy partially mediating this relationship. Perceived financial security significantly moderates these effects. Despite differentiated patterns, gender does not significantly influence the relationships. Our study makes a novel contribution by integrating green entrepreneurship into the discourse on entrepreneurship education and incorporating perceived financial security as a moderator within this context, thereby expanding the theory of planned behaviour and social cognitive theory in an underrepresented context.
