Abstract: The article highlights the role of Ho Chi Minh in the development of comprehensive relations between the DRV and the USSR, especially the Vietnamese language as the most important component of the people's identity. On the initiative of Ho Chi Minh personally, the first Soviet students went to the DRV for a two-year language internship. It was these students and their future students and followers who laid a solid foundation for the development of Vietnamese studies in our country, which allowed the reviving Soviet Vietnam studies to reach a new qualitative level. The article traces the connection between Vietnamese studies and the quality of interstate contacts, as well as the influence of scientific research in this area on the progress of bilateral cooperation between our countries.
