Abstract: Hair loss is a common and frequently distressing concern in the pediatric population. Diagnosis of hair loss in children can be challenging due to overlapping clinical features between conditions, resulting in the risk of delayed treatment. Ultraviolet-induced fluorescence dermoscopy (UVFD) is a novel supplement to polarized dermoscopy (PD) that can facilitate diagnosis of scalp disorders in children. We present two cases of hair loss (alopecia areata and tinea capitis) where utilization of UVFD revealed distinct trichoscopic features and facilitated accurate and efficient diagnosis.
