Abstract: This community service program aimed to empower high school biology teachers in designing STEM-based learning integrated with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative was motivated by the low levels of students’ scientific literacy, 21st-century skills, and sustainability awareness, as well as teachers’ limited experience in combining STEM approaches with global issues. A participatory training approach was employed through interactive workshops, hands-on practice, group discussions, peer review, and evaluation of teachers’ learning designs. The program involved 19 biology teachers from the MGMP (Biology Teacher Forum) in Garut Regency. The results indicate that teachers improved their understanding of STEM-SDGs concepts, developed contextual lesson plans, and enhanced their awareness of sustainability literacy. The produced learning designs addressed themes such as health and nutrition, local food innovation, disaster literacy, climate change, and plastic waste management, which were assessed as good to very good in quality, particularly in terms of sustainability relevance and creativity. Overall, the program not only strengthened teachers’ pedagogical competence but also reinforced their role as change agents in implementing innovative, contextual, and sustainability-oriented biology education. The program has the potential to be replicated in other teacher communities, fostering broader social awareness of sustainability issues and supporting schools in building a culture of environmentally responsible learning.
