Twenty-First Century Drama: Diverse Concerns

Abstract: Drama is an objective interpretation of society’s definite reflection, which inspires and influences the reader or viewer through direct experience. In the tradition of Hindi drama, from its origin to the present, time and circumstances have continually changed, yet people-centeredness and social awakening have always remained central factors. Drama is not merely a source of entertainment but also a powerful medium for exposing various social distortions. In 21st-century plays, diverse political and administrative concerns of society are often presented to audiences, sometimes with a heightened sense of realism (which, in some cases, implies the use of obscenity under the guise of reality). In the period under review, many plays can be found that certainly reflect today’s social contradictions, through which readers and viewers become acquainted with and influenced by society’s various concerns, both positive and negative. However, the use of obscenity and indecent language has undoubtedly increased in this period. We must reflect on the kind of ideas we are transmitting to society. To what extent is it justified to cross boundaries in the name of freedom of expression. Abstract in Hindi Language: नाटक समाज के निश्चित प्रतिबिंब का वस्तुनिष्ठ विवेचन है, जो पाठक या दर्शन को प्रत्यक्षानुभूति के आधार पर प्रेरित और प्रभावित करता है। हिंदी नाटक परंपरा में आदि से लेकर वर्तमान तक देशकाल, परिस्थितियां निरंतर परिवर्तित होती रही परंतु लोकोन्मुखता और लोक–जागरण महत्वपूर्ण कारक के रूप में सदैव वर्तमान रहा है। नाटक मनोरंजन का साधन मात्र न रहकर लोक में व्याप्त विभिन्न विसंगतियों के उद्घाटन का सशक्त माध्यम है। 21वीं के नाटकों में समाज के विभिन्न राजनीतिक और प्रशासनिक सरोकारों को कहीं–कहीं अधिक यथार्थ बोध (अधिक यथार्थबोध से आशय, यथार्थ की ओट से अश्लीलता परोसने से है) के माध्यम से दर्शकों के सम्मुख प्रस्तुत किया गया है। आलोच्य काल में अनेक ऐसे नाटक पढ़ने और देखने को मिल जाते हैं जो निश्चित ही आज भी सामाजिक विद्रूपताओं प्रतिबिंब प्रस्तुत करते दिखाई देते हैं, जिन्हें पढ़कर हम लोक के विभिन्न सरोकारों (सकारात्मक और नकारात्मक) से परिचित और प्रभावित होते हैं। अश्लीलता और अमर्यादित भाषा का प्रयोग आलोच्य काल में निश्चित ही बढ़ता दिखाई दे रहा है। हमें विचार करना होगा कि हम समाज में किस प्रकार के विचार प्रेषित कर रहे हैं। अभिव्यक्ति की उन्मुक्तता के नाम पर मर्यादाओं का अतिक्रमण कहां तक सही है Keywords: राजनीतिक भ्रष्टता,सांप्रदायिकता, शैक्षणिक भ्रष्टाचार, न्याय व्यवस्था, स्त्री शोषण, पारिवारिक व्यभिचार
