Misunderstanding of analysis of covariance revisited: Commentary on Miller and Chapman (2001).

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: by G. A. Miller and J. P. Chapman (2001). The central thesis of Miller and Chapman is that the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) is invalid when groups differ on the covariate. Specifically, Miller and Chapman imply that this is an assumption of ANCOVA. However, in the present article, the commentators argue that equivalence of groups on the covariate is not a requirement for valid use of ANCOVA.
