Spatiotemporal pattern of terrestrial ecological drought based on ecological water deficit in the Yellow River Basin
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Study regionThe Yellow River Basin (32°10′N–41°50′N, 95°53′E–119°05′E) extends from the Tibetan Plateau in the west to the Bohai Sea in the east, from the Qinling Mountains in the south to the Yinshan Mountains.Study focusThis study attempts to calculate crop coefficient [[EQUATION]], ecological water demand (EWR), ecological water consumption (EWC), and ecological water deficit (EWD) based on NDVI index, meteorological data, and Penman Monteith formula to analyze the changes in ecological drought indicators in the Yellow River Basin. There are 8 secondary water resource zones in the Yellow River Basin, evaluate the evolution of ecological drought in each zone, and compare the results of ecological drought evolution using the Vegetation Health Index.
