Abstract: Photograph of Jun Cai, Editor-in-Chief of Cardiac Research. The global burden of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) demonstrates a persistent upward trajectory. Current epidemiological data indicate that approximately 640 million individuals worldwide are affected by cardiovascular and circulatory disorders,[1] with a significant distribution across various conditions, including 250 million cases of coronary artery disease, 94 million cases of cerebrovascular accidents, 74 million cases of valvular heart disease,[2] 64 million cases of heart failure, 16 million cases of congenital heart defects, and 5.9 million cases of atrial fibrillation.[3] According to the World Heart Federation’s comprehensive analysis, CVDs are responsible for an estimated 20.5 million deaths annually, constituting one-third of global mortality.[4] Coronary heart disease represents the predominant cause, accounting for approximately 50% of CVD-related deaths, while cerebrovascular events contribute to approximately 7 million fatalities. Moreover, epidemiological projections suggest an alarming trend, with a predicted 90% increase in CVD incidence between 2025 and 2050, accompanied by a corresponding 73.4% elevation in crude mortality rates.[5] Beyond the anticipated increase in CVD burden due to population aging, there is mounting evidence of cardiovascular complications affecting increasingly younger demographics.[6] These trends underscore the critical importance of implementing comprehensive approaches, including lifestyle interventions, preventive strategies, novel therapeutic targets, and evidence-based healthcare policies. In response to these challenges and the rapid evolution of cardiovascular medicine—encompassing innovative therapeutic concepts, novel pharmacological agents, and advanced medical devices—we are pleased to announce the launch of Cardiac Research. Cardiac Research is dedicated to publishing high-impact, peer-reviewed research that advances our understanding of cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology while promoting innovations in prevention and treatment. The journal’s scope encompasses diverse areas within cardiovascular medicine, including but not limited to fundamental molecular mechanisms, genetic and genomic investigations, advanced cardiovascular imaging, translational research, clinical trials, and epidemiological studies. We welcome submissions across various article types, including Original Research Articles, Systematic Reviews, Case Reports, Consensus and Clinical Practice Guidelines, Letters, Comments, Brief Reports, and Communications. Cardiac Research is supported by a distinguished international editorial board comprising leading experts in cardiovascular medicine and research, ensuring comprehensive scientific oversight and maintaining the highest standards of academic rigor. Our goal is to establish Cardiac Research as a leading cardiovascular science and medicine platform. We warmly invite you to contribute your valuable work as we collaborate to advance cardiovascular health and reduce the global burden of cardiovascular diseases. Acknowledgments Not applicable.
