Ultraviolet Nonlinear Frequency Conversion of Solid‐State Lasers in 200–400 nm Spectral Region
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: High‐power, high‐repetition‐rate lasers operating in the ultraviolet (UV) spectral region are important in the industrial, medical, and research fields. Over the past few decades, significant progress has been made in increasing the output power, improving conversion efficiency, and reducing the cost of UV solid‐state lasers in the 200–400 nm spectral region. This review begins with an introduction to nonlinear frequency conversion techniques and highlights the recent progress in high‐power UV solid‐state lasers with repetition rates above the kilohertz range. These include high‐power UV lasers with wavelengths of ≈355, 266, and 213 nm, generated through the third, fourth, and fifth harmonics of 1 µm radiation. Finally, prospects and challenges for future development of high‐power solid‐state UV lasers are discussed and analyzed.
