Normal impingement of hybrid nanofluid over heated rotating disk: Calculations of wall stresses and pressure distribution

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Numerous practical applications involve rotational flows over rotating disks, such as turbine disks, substrate disks in chemical mixing processes, and rotating disk electrodes. Motivated by these applications, this study aims to investigate the rotational axisymmetric stagnation point flow of hybrid nanofluids over a rotating disk, providing valuable insights into the underlying fluid dynamics and heat transfer mechanisms. The surface of disk governs the convection transportation phenomenon. Moreover, the flow also drives through porous medium under the interaction of normal magnetic field. Impact of thermal radiation and heat source is also considered in thermal energy transport phenomenon. The thermo-physical properties of hybrid fluid are obtained by well-known Hamilton-Cross model. Numerical outcomes of the study are revealed via wall shear stresses, Nusselt number, pressure distribution, boundary-layer thickness and velocity profiles in graphical abstracts. Results show that boundary-layer thickness increases and decreases with higher values of magnetic and porous parameters, respectively. Lorentz force presence reduces the effect of disk rotation on stagnation point flow.
