Abstract: Created in 2016, the SIGCHI Research Ethics Committee advises SIGCHI conferences and communities on ethical issues that arise in the course of conducting research. The committee also provides guidance and feedback on research ethics issues that arise during the peer review process; as a result, we have a broad sense of novel and persisting open questions within our community. Through this recurring column, we will continue this work by raising awareness and increasing discussion of ethics in the context of conducting HCI research.
