Abstract: In the quark model the low-lying Roper resonance is considered to be a radially-excited three-quark state which rapidly decays to \(N\pi\), a description that poorly describes its low mass. We discuss the possibility that the Roper is dynamically generated as an \(N\pi\) state and present a method of using GPDs to calculate the size of the effect on the Roper's structure.
