A reconfigurable metasurface with independent dynamic modulation of transmission and absorption
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study proposes a reconfigurable metasurface with vertical stacking of multi-stratified resistive top layers and active FSS substrate. It enables independent control over in-band transmission (5.73–7.95 GHz, >85% efficiency via PIN diodes) and out-of-band dual-band absorption (3.02–5.23 GHz and 11.64–17.25 GHz, reflection < -10 dB via tunable resistors). The dual-polarization symmetric design ensures polarization insensitivity, validated by equivalent circuit modeling and experiments. With bias-controlled independent modulation, the structure maintains stable in-band transparency during out-of-band absorption adjustment, showing potential for dynamic electromagnetic stealth and adaptive wave manipulation.
