Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Clinical Trial
Abstract: ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of an educational technology in the format of a digital guide on the knowledge of nursing professionals regarding the main injectable drugs in pediatrics. Method: A pilot study with a quasi-experimental, single-group, pre- and post-intervention design, conducted between May and June 2024 in a public hospital in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Data collection occurred in three stages: pre-test, intervention, and post-test. The McNemar test was used to analyze and compare the proportion of correct answers before and after the intervention. A significance level of p<0.05. P<0.05 was adopted. Results: The study included 33 nursing professionals. Ages ranged from 24 to 60 years, with a mean of 41.2 years (SD ± 9.1 years). Among the participants, 19 (57.6 %) were nurses and 14 (42.4 %) were nursing technicians. It was observed that after the intervention, the total number of correct answers increased from 322 to 415 out of a possible 528 (100.0 %), representing a 28.9 % increase in the total number of correct responses. Additionally, there was a considerable increase in the number of correct answers for most questions (n=13; 81.3 %). Half of the questions showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.05). Conclusion: The "Guide for the correct use of the main injectable drugs in pediatrics" proved effective in increasing knowledge on the subject. Thus, it stands out as an effective educational technology to guide nursing professionals and promote their autonomy and leadership in pediatric medication practices.
