Abstract: We explored the use of meltable metal-organic frameworks and coordination polymers (MOFs/CPs) as dismantlable adhesives that can be readily disassembled by immersion in water at room temperature. Three MOF/CP materials were synthesized, melted, and applied to copper substrates to evaluate their shear bonding strength. Among these, [Zn(HPO 4 )(H 2 PO 4 ) 2 ](H 2 Im) 2 (ZPI) exhibited the highest shear strength (~ 10 MPa), indicating its suitability as a high-strength adhesive. Moreover, ZPI-bonded joints showed a marked decrease in bond strength after just one hour of immersion in water at room temperature, allowing for manual disassembly. These findings highlight the potential of ZPI as a dismantling adhesive that functions under mild conditions.
