Abstract: Regional odontodysplasia(RO), also known as ghost teeth, is a rare developmental odontological disorder characterized by abnormal tooth formation, leading to unerupted teeth. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are important to minimize future sequels. The case is a 10-year-old male with a chief complaint of unerupted teeth. He was presented with hypoplastic maxillae and facial asymmetry. The teeth 11, 21-25 was not erupted, and 26 was partially erupted with an irregular contour and brown color. He showed Class III malocclusion with anterior crossbite and tooth 36 was bite on the maxillary gingiva. In CBCT, the intraosseously located ghost teeth had large pulp chamber and incomplete root formation. A multi-disciplinary team (MDT) was composed to treat the patient, including doctors from rare-disease clinic, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics and prosthodontics. Two L-shaped miniplates were implanted into the maxilla as anchorage, following maxillary traction to correct dento-maxillary deformity. After 10 months of orthodontic treatment, the facial appearance and occlusion were significantly improved, and removable partial denture was made to restore bite force and promote jawbone growth. In this case, miniplates were used as anchorage for the maxillary traction, instead of teeth or mini-screw, as too many teeth loss and mixed dentin. We kept the embedding teeth to maintain alveolar volume. This MDT procedure get a satisfied results for the RO patient. The treatment of RO should be based on the degree of severity and the individual functional and aesthetic needs of each case.
