Abstract: N , N ′-Bis(9-(4-chlorophenyl)-9-xanthenyl)ethylenediamine retains its favoured guest species, 2-methylpyridine, in crystals of the complex by means of a classical (host)N–H⋯N(guest) hydrogen bond.
