Abstract: Professor Koul's journey in statistics began with his MA in Statistics with distinction and the first position in the Faculty of Arts from the University of Poona in the year 1964.He then moved to the University of California, Berkeley, earning his Ph.D. in December 1967, under the guidance of Peter J. Bickel-a training that set the stage for a career devoted to precision in asymptotics and a deep feel for nonparametric inference.
