Abstract: In this paper, we present a magnetic-resonant wireless power transfer (WPT) system designed to improve transfer distance and misalignment tolerance for drone charging application, where precise alignment cannot be guaranteed. The system employs an LCC-S compensated WPT link and a Class Φ2resonant converter operating at 6.78 MHz, enabling soft-switching over a wide operating range. A prototype was developed and experimentally evaluated for DC-DC efficiency as a function of distance and lateral misalignment. Experimental results show an efficiency of 70% at a power level of 90 W when the distance between the transmitter and receiver is 20 cm, remaining above 50% up to a distance of 30 cm and a lateral offset of 20 cm.
