Designing Hybrid Electrodes for Fiber Quantum Dot‐Sensitized Solar Cells with Record 11.05% Efficiency

Type: article
Abstract: Fiber solar cells present a promising power solution for wearable electronics, while fiber quantum dot‐sensitized solar cells (FQDSCs) with adjustable light absorption range show great potential to efficiently harvest solar energy. However, due to the inherent difficulty in preparing high‐quality active layers and enabling compact and stable interfaces on high‐curvature fibers, efficient FQDSC remains unavailable. Here, a hybrid photoanode is designed by incorporating TiO 2 nanoparticle film into aligned TiO 2 nanotube arrays on a Ti wire and a hybrid counter electrode by wrapping a carbon nanotube sheet covered with Cu 2 S nanosheets on another Ti wire. The resulting FQDSC realizes sufficient light harvesting, rapid charge transport, and high structural stability, achieving a record power conversion efficiency of 11.05% that is maintained by over 90% after 1000 cycles of deformation. These FQDSCs are further integrated with fiber batteries into textiles and power a smart life‐saving vest for real‐time health monitoring and emergency response.
