Abstract: North Carolina officials last week unveiled a pilot initiative under which Forensic Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) teams will offer tailored support to individuals with serious mental illness who are released from incarceration. Officials are characterizing the $9.5 million state investment as a broad‐based effort to improve individual and community outcomes, with reducing criminal recidivism a primary but not sole objective.
