Limb Preservation With Cellular, Acellular and Matrix-like Products (camps)

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: imb preservation represents a commitment to restoring function, independence and quality of life for patients at risk of amputation. As the chair of this consensus panel, I am pleased to present this document to the medical community. It was developed to advance the science and practice of limb preservation through the informed application of cellular, acellular and matrix-like products (CAMPs).This consensus document is the result of a collaborative, interdisciplinary effort among key opinion leaders, aimed at meeting the increasing demand for updated, practical and evidence-informed guidance on the use of CAMPs.The discussions were rooted in clinical experience and bolstered by emerging data, all while maintaining a shared understanding of the complexities inherent in limb preservation.Successfully preserving a threatened limb requires more than selecting the right CAMP; it necessitates thorough patient assessment, interdisciplinary collaboration and a commitment to ongoing reassessment and optimisation. The document should serve as both a roadmap and a practical resource. It provides actionable recommendations, consensus statements and illustrative case studies that show how CAMPs can be effectively integrated into patient-centred treatment strategies. The document is designed to support all members of the wound-care team, from physicians and nurse practitioners to physical therapists and social workers, helping them make informed decisions that align with both clinical and patient goals. Finally, this document is envisioned as a living resource that will continue to evolve as new evidence becomes available and our collective understanding evolves. Our shared goal is to reduce the burden of limb loss and improve the lives of the patients we serve. The panel would like to thank readers and colleagues for their commitment to this vital work.
