Issues of “Cost, Capabilities, and Scope” in Characterizing Adoptees' Lack of “Genetic-Relative Family Health History” as an Avoidable Health Disparity: Response to Open Peer Commentaries on “Does Lack of ‘Genetic-Relative Family Health History’ Represent a Potentially Avoidable Health Disparity for Adoptees?”
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The open-peer commentaries on our target article, “Does Lack of ‘Genetic-Relative Family Health History’ Represent a Potentially Avoidable Health Disparity for Adoptees?,” provide a number of interesting points of discussion, potential for extending the reach of arguments we propose, and fertile ground for both clarifying key points to our argument and expanding upon our original points in response to criticisms raised by commentaries. We first thank all peer commentators for their thoughtful work in response to our target article, and hope our response to specific points in the following are taken in the spirit of Socratic dialogue within which they are intended. We believe each commentary raised valid and intriguing points, so the order of response reflects solely a concern with formulating a coherent response, rather than any judgment concerning the value of points raised by any particular commentary.
