Abstract: ABSTRACT First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Ditipriya Mallick is first author on ‘ Cellular elasticity drives mechano-adaptation against fluid shear stress’, published in JCS. Ditipriya is a PhD student in the lab of Prof. Siddhartha S. Jana at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, India, investigating the molecular mechanisms by which cells sense and respond to extracellular mechanical stress that couples dynamic cytoskeletal remodeling to gene-expression reprogramming for establishing mechanical memory.
