From Race-Based to Race-Conscious Medicine: A Call to Action for Re-Evaluating the Use of Race in Urologic Diagnostic Algorithms and Clinical Guidelines
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Clinical diagnostic algorithms and practice guidelines are standard tools used by health care providers to help patients understand their health risks, guide decision-making, and inform treatment. These algorithms and guidelines often factor in multiple variables; questions of when, whether, and how to include race as one of these inputs have generated considerable controversy in recent years.
