Addressing the Nurses’ Well-Being Crisis

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Nurses face a well-being crisis driven by demanding work and schedules, poor sleep, and unhealthy eating, leading to work-life imbalance, stress, burnout, and high turnover. Twelve-hour shifts and night work can disrupt circadian rhythms, impairing health and reducing patient safety. Caregiving and other family responsibilities can further strain nurses. Limited access to nutritious food worsens fatigue and health risks. Solutions include flexible scheduling, supportive work environments, family-centered policies, wellness programs, and healthier food options. Addressing these interconnected factors is critical to reducing burnout, retaining nurses, and improving patient care.
