Global research partnerships and the impact of inequitable research practices on systematic reviews
Year: 2025
Type: review
Abstract: When we, Wangari Kinyanjui and Amy Patel, started our partnership while both at our respective medical schools, neither of us was oblivious to the challenges faced by low- and middle-income country (LMIC) researchers conducting research. This collaboration between the University of Nairobi (Wangari Kinyanjui) and the University of Oxford (Patel) was a tool to overcome some of these challenges. However, there were unexpected challenges which surfaced as we tried to conduct our research, which have resulted from decades of a research system which has disadvantaged LMIC interests.
