Type: article
Abstract: Contemporary dentistry is at the forefront of preserving dental health, placing paramount importance on maintaining the integrity of dental pulp and surrounding tissues.Root canal treatment (RCT) has emerged as a pivotal intervention in this endeavor, addressing challenges posed by biofilms-complex microorganism structures often leading to treatment setbacks and infections. 1 These resilient bacterial biofilms adhere strongly to dental surfaces, necessitating meticulous removal during RCT.Traditional approaches involve mechanical preparation, chemical irrigation agents like sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), and chlorhexidine, and hydrogel-based medications.2,3 Despite these efforts, effectively managing persistent infections remains a challenge, impacting success rates in nonsurgical endodontic therapy. The transformative influence of nanotechnology, particularly in the realm of nanoparticles within the 1-100 nm range, has revolutionized the landscape of dentistry.Among these nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have garnered attention for their potent antibacterial effects across a broad spectrum of pathogens, 1,
