Study on the mechanism of hemoporphyrin sensitized microwave therapy for glioma
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Significance The prognosis of glioblastoma is poor, and there is currently no effective treatment strategy. Microwave hyperthermia is a new method for cancer treatment, and hematoporphyrin is the most commonly used photodynamic sensitizer. If its sensitization effect in microwave power therapy can be confirmed, a new treatment method for patients with glioma will appear. Approach By using the U87 glioma cells, detect the expression of GPX4 protein production, as well as ROS total iron, lipid peroxidation, glutathione concentration and other indicators. Results Microwave hyperthermia inhibited the development of U87 glioma cells, and hematoporphyrin can be used as a sensitizer for microwave hyperthermia of glioma. Hematoporphyrin sensitized microwave hyperthermia of glioma involves ferroptosis. Conclusions Hematoporphyrin mediated microwave dynamic therapy can enhance ROS mediated ferroptpsis. Therefore, ferroptosis is a promising pathway for the treatment of glioma, which provides a theoretical basis for new treatment methods.
