A width centric image to mechanics framework for assessing advance grouting with TMSE adaptive width segmentation and lab scale validation

Abstract: This study presents a multiscale approach to enhance the performance evaluation of heterogeneous composite structures in geotechnical reinforcement and soil remediation. Traditional methods fail to capture critical parameters such as inclined microstructure mechanics and seepage pathways. Our approach integrates DIC and material mechanics: 1) A multidimensional grayscale reconstruction technique, optimized by genetic algorithms, enhances microstructure edge contrast; 2) A subpixel edge segmentation system achieves 1/n pixel accuracy under noisy conditions; 3) A graph theory-based measurement system reduces bifurcation errors to below 3%; 4) A decoupling model quantifies elastic modulus (error ≤8.44%) and permeability coefficient (error ≤14.69%). Fracture grouting experiments show that 83% of test groups maintain dual-parameter errors within 15%. This method provides a high-precision, generalizable framework for evaluating composite materials in geotechnical reinforcement and soil remediation.
