Abstract: • Pressure measuring sensor with the capability of measure pressure at two points. • The cascading approach to fabricate two sensors through fiber twisting technique. • The sensor fabrication uses a polymer optical fiber SK-40 to twist with each other. • The dual point pressure sensor measures the pressure from 1 MPa to 4 MPa. • The dual point sensor has sensitivity of 1.09 μ W/MPa. The present study proposes a polymer optical fiber based dual point pressure sensor. The sensor fabrication uses a cascading approach to integrate two sensors on a single primary light-illuminating fiber. The primary light-illuminating fiber is twisted sequentially with two separate secondary fibers at two distinct positions to fabricate Sensor-A and Sensor-B, respectively. The integration of fabricated dual point pressure sensors is arranged in two different ways. Firstly, both sensors are integrated in a single pressure chamber, where the combined sensor response is investigated. Secondly, both sensors were individually incorporated into two separate pressure chambers to assess individual sensor response. The obtained sensor response highlights its robustness, as it successfully measures pressure values from 1 MPa to 4 MPa for both sensor integration setups. Both sensors have a linear response to changes in pressure. The R-square value of both sensors is measured in the range of 0.993 to 0.995 with the sensitivity of 1.09 μ W/MPa. The successful sensor response supports its robustness from a sensor integration point of view to integrate into combined and individual pressure chambers.
