Transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) in a patient with high grade stenoses of bilateral retropharyngeal carotid arteries

Abstract: Transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) offers an alternative to carotid endarterectomy for the treatment of surgically indicated carotid occlusive disease in patients with complex arterial anatomy. We present the first reported case to our knowledge of a patient with bilateral retropharyngeal carotid arteries who underwent bilateral TCAR. TCAR should be considered for the treatment of patients with surgically indicated carotid occlusive disease who have retropharyngeal carotid arteries.
