Transformational apparent motion is driven by figural parsing, not low-level motion signals

Abstract: Transformational apparent motion is perceived for both first-order and second-order stimuli and follows the time course of endogenous or exogenous attentional cueing. This suggests that interactions between form-processing and motion-processing underlying transformational apparent motion are mediated by attentional processes.
