Abstract: American health care faces a widening gap between its policy development and technological innovation. The result is an exacerbation of an already broken, opaque healthcare system that offers the worst care for the highest costs. 1 It unnecessarily hurts patients, stresses providers, and burdens employers 2 -costing us money, time, and quality of care.Instead of giving technology an opportunity to transform our healthcare services so that they benefit everyone regardless of political alignment, income level, or health status, we as a nation remain hung up on the horns of a digital dilemma where policy is holding back the potential salutary benefits that technology can bring.
