Type: article
Abstract: To address the issues of excessive active power losses, voltage fluctuations, high reactive power costs, and environmental costs in regional power grids caused by high-proportion renewable energy integration, an optimal reactive power-voltage control in regional power grids using temporal segmentation strategy of wind and photovoltaic (PV) generation is proposed. Firstly, based on the temporal characteristics of wind and PV generation, the Top-Down algorithm is employed to segment the power output profiles of renewable energy sources. Second, for each time interval, an optimal reactive power-voltage model in regional power grids incorporating wind, PV, thermal, and energy storage systems is established. The optimization objective is to minimize the standardized sum of the total active power loss, the total voltage deviation, reactive power sources’ costs, and environmental costs of thermal power units. The improved golden jackal optimization algorithm is presented to solve the model. Finally, the simulation verification is conducted using a modified IEEE 30-bus system. The results show that the proposed optimization method can effectively allocate active and reactive power outputs, significantly reduce the total active power loss and the total voltage deviation, improve grid voltage quality and renewable energy utilization, and reduce the emissions of harmful gas and CO2.
